The award-winning Mundelein Park and Recreation District provides park and recreational services, second to none. 33 neighborhood parks are conveniently located throughout the Village to serve thousands of residents year round. The jewels of the park system include: Barefoot Bay Water Park, Steeplechase Golf Course, Parkview Health and Fitness Center, the Mundelein Senior Center, Diamond Lake Beach, Community Park, bicycle trails with access to a beautiful county forest preserve system, and the Fort Hill Heritage Museum.

Mundelein Community Days
Mundelein Community Connection, a non-profit, downtown promotional organization, which is supported by, and works closely with, the Village staff, provides a variety of exciting community events throughout the year including a Craft Beer Festival, Farmers Market, Car Cruise Nights, Summer Concerts in the Park, “One World” Cultural Festival, Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony, and Santa’s Cottage.
Mundelein Biking Opportunities
Lake County has one of the finest bike trail systems in the state. Mundelein is conveniently located at the center of the Lake County trail system. The North Shore and Millennium trails join in Mundelein and provide easy accessibility east to the Libertyville Township trails and the Des Plaines River trail. To the west riders can take the Millennium trail to Wauconda, or connect with the Grand Illinois trail and journey across the state. This section provides links to the wonderful trail system at our doorstep, links to the Metra system, and suggested street rides around town.

Simply click on the link, click the Layers tab in the top right hand corner, select Mundelein on the drop-down box, and then select bike routes. The map shows some easy rides through the town on different Village streets to a number of parks.
Lake County Forest Preserve Trails
Lake County has over 168 miles of bike path in the many forest preserves. There are 32 different areas in which to bike through, offering relaxing and scenic routes including the Ray Lake Forest Preserve which is located just outside western Mundelein. Grand Illinois Trail
The Illinois Grand Bike Trail is a trail that was created in the 1990s to connect a network of various bike trails. The trail traverses the entire width of the nortern part of the state. From Mundelein, a biker traveling east could go all the way to Lake Shore Drive and Navy Pier. Going West, a biker could travel to the Quad Cities and other Mississippi towns.

Metra allows bike riders to bring their bike on board within certain time frames. Specific details on their policies can be viewed here. For those who do not want to bring their bike on board, but would like to ride to the station, both the Mundelein and Vernon Hills Metra stations provide plenty of space to lock up your bike on a bike rack.
Mundelein Bike and Accesories Stores and Repair Shops:
Pace buses that travel along a fixed route allow for bikers to store their bike on the bike rack attached to the bus or to carry the bike on the bus if is foldable. There are no fees associated with using the bike racks or carrying it on the bus. However, each bus is only capable of carrying two bikes on the rack.
