Mundelein Wins National Award

The Village of Mundelein has been notified they are a second place winner of the 2006 National Chiefs Challenge through the International Chiefs of Police Association (IACP).  The award will be presented at the Highway Safety Awards Ceremony at the IACP conference on Tuesday, October 16, 2007, in New Orleans.

The Mundelein Police Department has always considered occupant protection, speed enforcement, and the removal of impaired drivers from our roads as priority tasks.  We have put in place, comprehensive year-round enforcement programs as well as traffic safety programs to educate the public.

National Chiefs Challenge applications are initially submitted to the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police who first judge all applications for the Illinois Traffic Safety Challenge and then send the applications on to the IACP for consideration for the National Chiefs Challenge Award.   Mundelein's program was awarded second place in the nation for the 36-50 officers division.  Award winning applications are acclaimed by the IACP as a "Model for the Nation."
