On Friday, June 22, 2007 at approximately 1:50 p.m., the Mundelein Police Department responded to a report of a traffic crash involving a motorcycle and passenger car in the intersection of Rt.83 and Rt.45. The motorcyclist was traveling north on Rt.83 lost control during an evasive maneuver to avoid colliding another vehicle in the intersection of Rt.45. Witnesses told police a light colored passenger car may have swerved or turned in front of the motorcycle. The light colored passenger car was either traveling north on Rt.83 and changed lanes suddenly or turned north on Rt. 45 at the intersection. After losing control, the motorcyclist collided with a stopped southbound Rt. 45 vehicle, which remained at the scene of the crash.
A 34-year-old Hawthorn Woods resident suffered injuries requiring hospitalization. The driver of the light colored passenger vehicle may not be aware of the crash and did not stop. No further description of the vehicle or driver is available at this time.
