Bicycle Rodeo

The Bicycle Rodeo is an annual event, where bicycles are given a safety check, and riders are judged on their skills in an obstacle course competition.  Bicycle registration can be completed, which helps in identifying found, lost, or missing bicycles.  Prizes, such as helmets, water bottles, riding gear and a new bike, have been issued at this event.

Previous rodeos included the participation of over 400 children.  One of the promotions offered at the rodeo was a helmet promotion, in which helmets were offered to the community at a discounted rate.  The remainder of the proceeds were donated to the communities DARE Program.

As part of the safety program, Police Explorers ride on patrol and issue citations to bike riders who are in violation of the bicycle rules of the road.  On the positive side when a rider is in compliance, they are rewarded in various ways including coupons to local establishments.
