Attention Mundelein Residents!

Over half a million-bicycle thefts occur every year.  Mundelein has recently experienced an increase in bicycle thefts.  The majority of these thefts occur as a crime of opportunity.  Don't give thieves the opportunity to steal your bike, LOCK IT UP!            

Bike Theft Prevention Tips

Tops to prevent your bike from being stolen.

• Lock your bike in an open, well-lit area that can be seen by pedestrians and passing motorists.
• Do not leave your bike in a rack overnight.
• Be sure to secure any quick-release parts such as wheels or seat posts.
• Always secure your bike to a SOLID object.
• Put the lock through the bike frame, the rear wheel, and/or the front wheel.
• Register your bicycle for free with the Mundelein Police Department.
