The Citizen’s Police Academy is a program which teaches participants what law enforcement entails.
Officers volunteer their time to prepare and present a lesson plan on different aspects of being a police officer including: Traffic Stops, Street Gang Awareness and Interdiction, Defensive Tactics, Northern Illinois Police Alarm System (NIPAS), Metropolitan Enforcement Group (MEG), Investigations, Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) and much more. During the traffic stop segment, the participants act as police officers, while officers acted as the vehicle drivers. A graduation ceremony is held upon completion of the program, and each graduate receives a diploma.
