History and Affiliation:

The Mundelein Police Department Explorer post was established around 1970.
"Explorers" is associated with the Exploring Division of the Boy Scouts of America and the Northeast Illinois Council .
There are currently more than 50,000 Law Enforcement Explorers nationwide.

Applicant requirements:

14-20 years old
Be in good physical condition
Maintain "C" grade point average in school
Have no serious criminal background
Have good moral character

Conferences:

The Explorers participate in a variety of activities where they learn different police tactics and techniques which are put to the test at the national and state competitions.
