History and Affiliation:

• The Mundelein Police Department Explorer post was established around 1970.

• "Explorers" is associated with the Exploring Division of the Boy Scouts of America and the Northeast Illinois Council .

• There are currently more than 50,000 Law Enforcement Explorers nationwide.

Applicant requirements:

• 14-20 years old

• Be in good physical condition

• Maintain "C" grade point average in school

• Have no serious criminal background

• Have good moral character

• Domestic Disputes / Violence

• Firearms Training / F.A.T.S. (Firearms Training Systems)

• Traffic Control / Direction

Conferences:

 

The Explorers participate in a variety of activities where they learn different police tactics and techniques which are put to the test at the national and state competitions.

 

Explorer Service and Benefits:

Funding:

 

Most money is collected through fund raising projects such as car washes, snow shoveling and traffic control.
