FINAL CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS! Fifth Annual Mayor’s Cup Math Challenge Generating Excitement among Mundelein Students and Teachers—Students Competing for Over $20,000 in Pledged Scholarships

Mundelein's Fifth Annual Mayor's Cup Math Challenge—an educational and fun event hosted by Mayor Steve Lentz—is once again generating excitement among students, parents, and teachers. The event will be held on Sunday, March 18, 2018 from Noon to 4 p.m. at Mundelein High School. Students must sign-up to participate in the contest by speaking with their mathematics teachers.

To date, Mundelein business owners have pledged some $20,000 for scholarships to the participating students! This means the Village has been able to increase the number of scholarships to be awarded and increase the dollar amount for those scholarships.

“This is the fifth year to host mathematics challenge and the response from the Mundelein business community, the schools and the students is just remarkable. In fact, Adi More, owner of Garden Fresh has once again pledged a sizable donation to the event, making it possible for students to earn scholarships to help fund their college education. Scholarship money will be awarded to the top students in each category to be used to further their education. We are very grateful to Garden Fresh and to all of our other sponsors for making this event possible,” said Steve Lentz, Mayor, Village of Mundelein.

“Each year, the students have a great time competing with each other. The world of future innovation in our culture is going to require math. Anything remotely technical needs a good basis of math and we want to foster this idea with the math challenge,” Mayor Lentz explains.
The Mayor’s Math Challenge, is open to any student who attends school in Districts 75, 76, 79, 120, Carmel Catholic High School, Mechanics Grove or any student who lives within District 120 boundaries but attends another elementary or middle school not listed above.
