Mundelein’s Got Talent— Mundelein Arts Commission Proudly Announces Return of Popular Open Mic Nights

The Mundelein Arts Commission (MAC) will once again present a series of Open Mic Nights to showcase performers from the area. The fall sessions will be held on the first Sundays of October, November and December, from 6:30-9 pm, in space donated by El Barrio Restaurant, 1122 N. Diamond Lake Road in Mundelein. The Open Mic Nights began this past spring and proved immensely popular, showcasing talent from all over the area, including everything from musicians to poets.

According to organizer Jeff Justman of the Mundelein Arts Commission, "The intent of the Mundelein Arts Commission's Open Mic Nights is to promote the performing arts in the Village of Mundelein. We welcome both Mundelein residents as well as surrounding community residents to bring their performing talents to Mundelein.”

Justman further states that the plan is to rotate each series of Open Mic Nights to a different business establishment in Mundelein. “In the spring series of Open Mic Nights, AREA General Store in Mundelein donated space for the events,” Justman says. “Building off of that success, El Barrio Restaurant, a long-time business in Mundelein, now has generously donated its space for the upcoming autumn series. This formula is an exciting opportunity for performers to not only perform at our Open Mic Nights, but also for Mundelein businesses to build new customers, and for the community to enjoy and celebrate our amazing, diverse local talent.”

All performers 14 years of age and older are welcome and encouraged to sign-up for one of the planned nights. Performing slots are 12 minutes in length and must be reserved in advance. For further information or to sign-up for a slot, please send an email to: JJustman@email.Mundelein.org.
