In an effort to assist residents with storm clean-up, the Village of Mundelein has organized a special pick-up for flood damaged household items with Groot, the Village’s garbage waste contractor. Flood damaged garbage will be collected on residents’ normal garbage day from Tuesday, July 18 through Friday, July 28.
To ensure efficient pick-up, the following guidelines must be followed:
o Waste must be left at the curb with your regular bin.
o Debris, such as drywall, should be in bags or cans.
o Carpeting must be rolled and should not exceed 2’ x 3’.
o Bundles, cans, and/or bags cannot exceed 45 lbs.
o Please do not mix fallen tree debris with household garbage or flood waste. Tree debris is collected by Mundelein Public Works. Information about tree debris cleanup can be found here.
All other yard waste should be disposed of via normal yard waste collection services.
o The following items will NOT be accepted: electronics, oil, gasoline, chemicals, fuel containers, empty chemical drums, pesticides, asbestos, railroad ties, paint, tires, and large quantities of construction debris
We appreciate your patience during this time. If you have any questions regarding flood waste collection, please contact Groot at 877-404-7668. For general questions, contact Mundelein Public Works and Engineering at 847-949-3270
