Mundelein Public Works and Engineering Employees Excel at Regional Competition

Public Works and Engineering employees recently participated in the American Public Works Association (APWA) Roadeo competition this May. Public Works employees from local government agencies all over the region participated in this specialized competition.

There were two Roadeo competitions: loader and snowplow. The competitions test knowledge through a written exam and a disabled vehicle inspection, which is based on current Illinois CDL driving rules and regulations. Additionally, a field test is administered via an obstacle course to test driving skills.

Two teams from Mundelein Public Works and Engineering competed in the snowplow competition. Adam Streicher and Mike Hassebroek placed 4th and Chris Deremo and Nick Galan placed 5th out of 40 teams. Long-time Street Division employee Bill Earll placed 8th out of 48 competitors in the loader competition.

“Mundelein employs some of the best equipment operators in the area,” said Street Superintendent Craig Schaul, “The Roadeo competition showcases their talent.”
