Village Administrator Puts Retirement on Hold
Mundelein’s Village Administrator Puts Retirement Plans on Hold to Lead Village
through COVID-19 Crisis
Mundelein’s Village Administrator John Lobaito was scheduled to retire in June 2020, however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and resulting economic turmoil, he has agreed to continue to work in his current capacity to help usher Mundelein through this crisis and assist with the transition period once the Board of Trustees selects a new Village Administrator. The selection process for this position is well underway.
"It just wouldn't be right for me to leave under these circumstances. Mundelein has been good to me and I want to make sure that when I leave, the community is in the best possible financial position going forward," John said.
Mayor Steve Lentz is grateful for John’s leadership during this crisis because he successfully led the Village through the Great Recession over a decade ago and his hands-on management style will help to move Mundelein forward as quickly and as seamlessly, as possible.
"John has been a rock-solid village administrator for many years," Lentz said. "His leadership right now is greatly appreciated."
Mundelein officials anticipate having a new administrator hired in August or September, allowing John to proceed with his retirement plans.
