The Village of Mundelein is in the process of updating its Comprehensive Plan – a long- range planning document that serves as a decision-making guide for the Mayor, Trustees, and staff. The Comprehensive Plan covers topics such as land use, transportation infrastructure, economic development, community culture and identity, parks and open space, and more.
A Comprehensive Plan represents a "vision" for the community, and the concepts are NOT final or proposed for construction. The elements of the plan may be considered for inclusion in future work plans, budgets, policies, and discussions.
Links to drafts and materials for the Comprehensive Plan’s 2019 Update will be added when they become available. In the meantime, please follow the Village E-newsletter or Facebook page for updates on upcoming public workshops and meeting dates!

Please note: Due to the large file size, some users have experienced difficulty accessing the plan on mobile devices. A copy of the 2011 Comprehensive Plan can be viewed in person at the Village Hall. Please contact Community Development to make an appointment if interested.

About 150 residents participated in a question and answer session led by Mundelein Community Development staff and by consultants from Kimley-Horn. Following the Q & A session, attendees were able to view conceptual drawings and maps. Additionally, attendees were able to provide feedback on comment cards and opinion ballots. The Diamond Lake plan represents a “vision” for the Diamond Lake area and the concepts presented are NOT construction documents or final plans. Rather, the materials presented were designed to stimulate public input on a vision for the Diamond Lake subarea. Feedback received from residents will be used by Village Planners to further refine and develop the “work-in-progress” concepts. The refined concepts will be brought before the Village Board for consideration at a later date, as part of the broader Village of Mundelein community-wide Comprehensive Plan Update.
