There are several options for public transportation through PACE and METRA available in Mundelein. Please review the service options below. For more detailed information about transportation in Lake County, please visit the Lake County Coordinated Transportation Services Committee (LCCTSC) website. The LCCTSC is a broad-based coalition of government officials, service providers, and advocacy groups concerned with the provision of transportation in and around Lake County.
There are two stations available for Mundelein residents to use. One is in downtown Mundelein near the Village Hall and the other is Prairie Crossing in Libertyville. Both rail stations are part of the North Central Service Line which travels from Antioch to Chicago. To view the schedule visit the Metra website.

Passport Parking: Metra commuters can download the Passport Parking App on their smartphone and pay for parking through the app. There is a convenience fee of $0.50.
Parking Permits: Quarterly Pre-Paid Parking Permits are available for purchase at the Village Hall during normal business hours and at the Mundelein Police Department 24 hours/7 days a week. The cost is $95.00 per quarter (permits are pro-rated based on the purchase date within the quarter). Vehicles displaying a valid parking permit and parking within the designated permit parking area will not be required to pay the daily fee.

Six parking spaces at Mundelein’s downtown Metra train station are reserved for long- term parking. The long-term parking spaces are located on the north side of the lot, numbered 29 through 35. Signs declaring the spots reserved for long-term parking are posted in the lot. Those using the long-term spots are required to pay the $1.75 daily parking fee, in advance. This daily rate is a significant savings over other long-term parking options at the airport or downtown Chicago.
This paratransit service is required by the federal Americans with Disabilities Act and is provided for customers whose disability or health condition prevents them from using CTA and/or Pace fixed route services for some or all of their travel. Only persons who are certified by the Regional Transportation are eligible to ride ADA Paratransit. Trips are only provided at the same times and within the same geographic areas as fixed route. Pace operates this service across the entire six-county region, including Chicago. Individuals must live within 3/4 of a miles of a fixed route service and mirrors fixed route hours and days.

Two Pace bus routes provide service to Mundelein:
Route 574 - CLC - Hawthorn Mall
Route 574 provides weekday and Saturday service between College of Lake County in Grayslake and the Hawthorn Mall in Vernon Hills. Service is provided along Highways 45 and 21 in Libertyville, Mundelein and Vernon Hills area. The College of Lake County, Libertyville Metra Station, Carmel High School and Hawthorn Mall are served by this route. Route serves Posted Stops Only along the entire route.
Route 572 - Washington
Route 572 provides weekday and Saturday service between the Waukegan Metra station (downtown Waukegan) and the College of Lake County. The service operates in the cities of Waukegan, Park City, Gurnee, and Grayslake, with stops at or near Waukegan High School (Brookside Campus and Washington Campus), Six Flags Great America, and Warren Township High School. Certain trips operate along US-45 to Carmel High School in Mundelein. Route serves Posted Stops Only along the entire route.
The goal of the Dial-a-Ride program to provide broader access to medical, education, shopping and jobs for seniors and people with disabilities; to slowly expand the service to reach more areas of the county; and to standardize the wide array of eligibility requirements and fares that apply to existing services.
Eligible riders from Mundelein are able to travel to any location in the Villages of Mundelein and Libertyville, or in the Townships of Fremont, Libertyville, and Shields. In addition, the following specific locations outside of these jurisdictions are included in the service area:

- Grayslake Medical Centers
- Greenleaf Medical Centers
- Lake County Health Department
- Walmart Fountain Square
- Lake Forest West Metra Station
- More shopping/medical locations in the Townline Rd. (Rt. 60) corridor

- Except for the following holidays on the days observed: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
- $3 Flat Fare one-way for trips under 10 miles for disabled and senior passengers. (Seniors are defined as passengers age 60 and over)
- $6 Flat Fare one-way for trips over 10 miles for disabled and seniors.
- $5 Flat Fare for medical one-way subscription trips.
- $0.15 Transfer Fare to transfer between other demand response services.
Companions are limited to one person or child per registered rider and to the vehicle capacity. Companions shall pay the full eligible passenger fare. Riders under the age of sixteen must be accompanied by an adult.

On-Demand (formerly known as Call-n-Ride)
Pace On Demand (formerly known as Call-n-Ride) offers reservation-based, shared-ride service in 11 designated service areas throughout the suburban region. All you have to do is book online or call to reserve your trip at least one hour in advance, and pay with Ventra ($2.00 per trip) or cash ($2.25) when boarding.
On Demand is open to the general public, so anyone can book a trip and ride the service, as long as the trip starts and ends within one of the On Demand zones.
