The Junior Police Academy is open to 6th, 7th and 8th grade students from any Mundelein School. The Mundelein Police Department's Police Liaison Officer who is stationed at Carl Sandburg teaches the class.
The Academy is designed to give students the opportunity to experience the daily tasks of a police officer. Students will have the opportunity to learn why the educational experience is so important. Subjects such as Mathematics, Science, English and Physical Education are discussed and how they are used in the day-to-day job responsibilities of the police officer. Some interactive learning exercises will consist of: Crime Scene Investigation, Traffic Stops, Self-Defense Tactics and Report Writing.
The academy is conducted for one week in June, everyday Monday through Friday 8:00am until 11:00am.
If your son/daughter is interested in enrolling in this fantastic summer school opportunity, please be advised that the program will be offered on a first-come first-served basis, as the class size is limited to 40 students.
All students who successfully complete the Junior Police Academy will receive Certificates of Completion.
If you have any questions regarding the class, please feel free to contact Officer Rachel Messina at (847) 968-4600, at the Mundelein Police Department.
