GLMV Chamber to Host Lunch and Learn Session on “Keeping Communities Safe”

The GLMV Chamber of Commerce Women’s Network Group (WOW!) cordially invites residents to its upcoming lunch and learn gathering on “Keeping Our Communities Safe.” Special Keynote Speaker will be Lake County Sheriff Mark C. Curran, Jr. The luncheon will be held on April 17 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Austin’s-481 Peterson Road, in Libertyville.

Keeping schools, houses of worship and businesses safe today requires a preparedness plan. For law enforcement, preparedness begins with a greater understanding of the root cause of mass violence. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office will discuss the Crisis Intervention (CIT) Training provided to first responders to identify subjects in crisis, connect them to services, and thwart potential violence.

In addition, Sheriff Curan will discuss the collaborative relationships his office has developed with the schools within the district and with partners including Advocate Condell, the Lake County Health Department and more. Along with Sheriff Curran, Undersheriff David Hare; Chief Jonathan Petrillo; Lieutenant Andrea Usry (Subject Matter Expert - Community Safety Team); and Antonietta Simonian will join in the discussion. Handouts will be available including Community Safety Brochure; Lake County Help Postcard (lists information on the A Way Out program, Text-A-Tip for Lake County students in need of assistance and Signs and Symptoms of an Overdose).

Luncheon cost: $17 Chamber members in advance / $20 non-members and walk-ins.
