Midwest Veterans Closet Hosting “Valentines for Veterans” Event

The Midwest Veterans Closet has found the perfect way spread the love on a day that celebrates love and commitment. The Midwest Veterans Closet Valentines for Veterans event is asking area residents and school children to let our Veterans know how much we appreciate everything they did for us and our country by sending them a Valentine greeting for Valentine’s Day.

“We are asking individuals, school teachers, and other social group leaders to buy or make special Valentine’s Day cards for Veterans to let them know that they are special and that we are grateful for their service and proud to call them ‘neighbor.’ Your small act of kindness will bring miles of smiles and boost moral more than you can imagine,” explains Mary Carmody, President of the Midwest Veterans Closet (Impacting Veterans Lives, Inc.).

Participants are asked to bring or mail the Valentine’s Day cards to the Midwest Veterans Closet, 2323 Green Bay Road, North Chicago, IL 60064 and the staff and volunteers will deliver the Valentines to the James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center on Valentine’s Day, warming many brave hearts. For more information on this program, please call the Midwest Veterans Closet at 847-354-2108 or visit www.midwestveteranscloset.org.

“Sending Valentine’s Day cards is just one more way we can let Veterans who visit the Midwest Veterans Closet know that they are valued, honored, and certainly not forgotten. At our facility, it is Veterans Day EVERYDAY. Our mission is to take the lead to ensure that our hospitalized Veterans at the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center and area at-risk Veterans — including women and men—know they are loved and not forgotten,” Mary says.

“After all, the price of freedom can be seen at any VA hospital. Every day, with your help, the Midwest Veterans Closet serves Veterans—once very proud soldiers. We welcome them with a warm smile and friendly greeting, give a listening ear, serve them with care, and give an honest compliment, all of which has proven to turn lives around,” Mary concludes.

The Midwest Veterans Closet is a program affiliated with Impacting Veterans Lives, Inc. a 501[c][3] charity.
